Biokineticists are trained to help to reduce the risk of injuries by identifying a sportsman/woman’s strengths and weaknesses and apply specific principles of exercise (biomechanics, strength, flexibility, proprioception, agility…) to increase their ability to perform.

  • Strain - trauma to a muscle due to overstretching and tearing of muscle fibers
  • Sprain - an injury in a joint, caused by the ligament being stretched beyond its own capacity
  • Bone fracture/break
  • Overuse and repetitive stress injury problems associated with sports include: Runner's knee, ITB, Tennis elbow/Golfers elbow, Tendinosis etc.

The risk of injury can be reduced by completing an effective warm up, followed by sport specific stretches to increase flexibility, sports specific strengthening of muscles, before games and during practice.
